About Tiffy

I hope my blog makes you laugh and brings a smile to your face today

Hi I’m Tiffy, my friends call me “Who” or “Whoey”.  You may wonder how I got such an unusual nickname.  Well it all started back at Christmas time, my people and I were watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and I heard my mom say “Doesn’t Tiffy look like one of the Who’s from Whoville?”  One of the Who’s from Whoville, I thought to myself those characters with big eyes and wisps of hair going in every direction?  Well, I do kind of see the resemblance.  Anyway the name stuck.  More about me, I’m a Yorkshire Terrier, well at least I think I am and that is what my papers say.  But something tells me the papers aren’t telling the WHOLE story about my lineage.  After all, my mom and dad live in another state and I haven’t seen them since I was a puppy.  However, after looking at pictures of Yorkies and running in to them on the street, I am left to question my heritage.  These dogs look different from me.  How you ask.  Well, more like the standard Yorkie I read about.  What does that look like you might ask.  Here’s the short list:

Yorkie Standard                      Tiffy

Long Haired                                   Can’t get my coat to touch the ground

Blue and Tan Coat                        Silver and Beige (light tan, I guess)

Straight Hair                                  Slight wave and when it gets wet it’s curly

Compact Body                                Long body

Short Muzzle                                  Long Muzzle

Nose Black                                      I have a black nose!

Dark Eyes                                        Check

Intelligent Expression                    I definitely have that

Small V Shaped Eyes                     Very large ears (adds character)

Tail Docked                                    Check

Silky Shiny Coat                            Check – Fluffy Puppy Keeps my hair looking it’s best

Weight less than 7 lbs                   Oops 9.9 lbs (more of me to love!)

As you can see, I don’t quite measure up to the standard, but who does?  Many people ask if I’m a Silky Terrier, I don’t quite look like them either!  I think I’m having an identity crisis!  Can dogs have those?  Maybe I’ll have my Mom get me genetically tested, they do that for dogs now!  Then I will find out the truth about my past!  But my mom told me that for $200 I didn’t need to know, so I’m left wondering.  My family consists of a Mom, Dad and two boys (my human brothers).  I love spending time and playing games with my family and they keep me quite spoiled.  I live in Wyckoff, NJ. and have a big yard to play in.  The neighborhood is nice with cute little shops, great restaurants and grooming salons.  It’s a dog friendly town.  I’ve even seen dogs being carried around in the Ivy Shop (a local clothes boutique), in the bank and at the local nursery!  I guess they were shopping with their people.  I was born on February 27, 2007 which makes me a Pisces!  According to my horoscope I am protective of those I love and am somewhat lacking in analytical skills but show my intelligence in other ways.  That would be me.  And I am in luck because it says my dog parents should be born in either October, January or March.  Well, my dad was born in March and my mom was born in October, so I have that covered.  I love good food such as shrimp, cheese and salmon.  I am sociable with other dogs but can be territorial on my home turf.  Tennis balls are my all time favorite toy and I enjoy chasing them as often as possible.  (Bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks and birds as well.)  Overall, I am a very loveable little dog with very few issues.  Well maybe one.  If you call snapping and snarling at windshield wipers a problem, I don’t.  I hope you enjoy reading my blog and come back often to visit.  I’m sure you will find something to put a smile on your face.  Everyone needs a good laugh sometimes:)

Love,

Tiffy (The Who)

    • The vet at the last check up said she was 9.9 lbs but 3 months prior she was 7 lbs. She doesn’t feel any heavier so maybe his scale is off but I’m not sure:) Actually, she doesn’t eat much at all…that’s the funny thing. Very fussy girl! I love Yorkies too! P.S. you have a beautiful garden! What a green thumb!
